Scholarships

WECIAS is excited to announce that we will be offering two types of scholarships this year. Both need-based and merit-based scholarships will be offered, in amounts that may cover full, half, or quarter tuition for a student. Scholarships are only available to campers who can commit to the entire three week program. In order to apply for a scholarship, follow these directions:

Need Based:

Students who wish to apply for a need-based scholarship should write a one-page letter to WECIAS, explaining their economic need, interest in music and the arts, and what they hope to gain from the WECIAS Performing Arts Camp.

To apply for the scholarship, students should fill out the standard camp application, and mail their letter WITH their camp application, in the same envelope, before April 13, 2012. Because we realize many students’ attendance may be dependent on these scholarships, students are not required to mail their $50 camp deposit with the application. Students will be notified of the scholarship results via e-mail before May 4, 2012, at which point they may decide to either proceed with the application process and submit their $50 camp deposit, which is due by May 31th to guarantee a spot in the camp, or withdraw their application.

Merit Based:

Students who wish to apply for a Merit-Based scholarship should express their intent by emailing camp@wecias.org their intentions of applying for a scholarship as soon as they mail their completed camp application. Students will be required to submit either a CD or DVD of a recent performance or schedule a live audition, and they should include which they would prefer in their e-mail. The deadline to mail recordings or schedule an audition is May 4,2012. As with need-based scholarships, students are only required to mail their $50 camp deposits by May 31th to guarantee a spot in the camp.
